In his early years, he specialized in two-step direct sales programs of big-ticket consumer products across a wide range of categories
He co-founded a highly successful direct marketing agency that introduced the now famous Mantis garden tiller to American gardens, then went on to begin direct importation and sales of his own line of German garden power products.
When the German manufacturer shut down production of his flagship product, he took a position as senior copywriter at DMCA, one of America’s top full-service direct marketing agencies. At DMCA he wrote customer acquisition and retention programs for nationally known companies such as Purina and Alamo Rent-a-Car.
He was subsequently hired as Creative Director, and then promoted to VP Creative Services at Targetbase Marketing in Irving, TX. Breckenridge oversaw both creative and print production services and was instrumental in driving Targetbase in its expansion into consumer package goods for clients that included Heinz-branded products, Canadian Mist and Early Times whisky, Coors brands, Coca-Cola, and many other nationally recognized product brands.
In the mid-nineties, Breckenridge established himself as an independent writer and creative director, continuing project work with Targetbase as well as working directly for consumer-focused companies such as AT&T and Allstate insurance.
In 2003, he shifted focus to writing and producing investor relations programs for venture capital firms seeking to increase awareness and demand for early-stage, publicly traded companies.
Since then he became one of the most sought-after writers in the business having been directly responsible for programs that moved hundreds of millions of dollars of shares through the market..
